The rim dimensions are usually defined by the tires that available for a given type of race car or class.

Rim widths and offsets will influence;

·         Scrub radius

·         Maximum steer angle

·         Bending loads in hub

·         Bearing loads

The rim diameter will influence the packing of;

·         Toebase length

·         Outboard brake disc size
